Goodbye Wordpress, Hello Jekyll!

I am currently in the process of migrating my old Wordpress site to a collection of static pages, generated by Jekyll. I am migrating because of the following reasons:
- Maintaining personal information (talks, publications, CV) will be a lot easier here as I can build a somewhat automated system for updates (which, in theory I could also have done for the Wordpress site – but I really did not want to have to touch PHP 🙄)
- For some reason, I felt that my Wordpress page got really
bloated. Migrating also allows me to
- go over everything and throw out irrelevant/old information,
- also tweak the design of my homepage a little bit (which I wanted to do for quite some time).
- I have been involved in several other projects where we used Jekyll, and I enjoyed that a lot.
In particular, I will not be migrating comments on my old blog posts, nor will I add a comment function to the new page (I really hated dealing with all the spam comments). However, I still appreciate feedback to the (very rare) blog posts, and I can still be contacted by, e.g., Email, Twitter, Phone, …
Unfortunately, goodbye from Wordpress also means goodbye from Email notifications for new blog post. As an alternative, I can offer this Atom feed.
